The aquatics program at The Plateau Club features an outdoor six-lane competition-sized swimming pool with diving board, children’s pool, whirlpool spa, and extensive decking and observation areas. Seasonal programs include swim team, swim lessons, pool parties, and monthly special events. The pool is open year-round.
Pool Information
The pool is open year-round. During the summer (Late June – end of Aug), open swim is from Noon to 7 pm. Lap swim is offered Sundays – Friday, Dawn to 11am.
During the off-season, the pool remains open, with Sunday – Friday being reversed for lap swimming in the morning between the hours of dawn until 11 am. On Saturdays and Sundays, open swims are still run every week from noon until before dusk. During the winter, the pool operation heavily depends on the condition of the weather.
Swim Team
The Plateau Penguins seasonal swim team begins practice in mid-May and competes from June to July with the Midlakes Swim League. The program is open to swimmers of all levels, typically ages six and up. New swimmer assessments are conducted during the first week of practice to place children at their appropriate swim level. After 4 weeks of practice, time trials are held to determine competition eligibility. The team practices Monday through Thursday in the evenings, with optional Saturday morning practice from mid-May until school is released for the summer. Practices then switch to weekday mornings for the remainder of the season. Regular season swim meets occur weekly on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning mid-June. The swim team is a popular choice for the Plateau Club community and is a great opportunity for your child to develop friendships, teamwork, and involvement with fellow club members!
An Affiliate Swim Team Only Membership is available for nonmembers of The Plateau Club. For more information and pricing for this special swim team-only membership, please contact Recreation Manager Christopher Williams.
Little Swimmers
The Little Swimmer program is designed for children in the 5-8 age group who are not yet ready for a full summer of competitive swimming. Swimmers must be eager and able to swim one 25 freestyle with ease and one 25 backstroke with effort. Little Swimmers are expected to practice 2 days a week (M/W or T/Th). After four weeks of attending practices, Little Swimmers conclude their season by participating in the swim team time trials in early June. Participating in Little Swimmers allows children to have a positive and encouraging first swim team experience. Little Swimmers are also welcome to take part in all swim team activities and social events.

My passion for swimming began when I joined a swim team at age 8. After competing for over 12 years and making national teams, I transitioned to teaching. I’ve coached multiple teams around Seattle and Lynnwood, including the Cascade and Sharks swim teams. Earning my Water Safety Instructor certificate from the Red Cross expanded my knowledge of swimming mechanics.
I’ve taught swim lessons to all ages, from babies (6 months old) to elderly adults, in both group and one-on-one settings. My passion is helping people develop a safe and enjoyable relationship with water. Seeing my students learn new skills while having fun is incredibly rewarding. My goal is to ensure everyone enjoys the water safely.

My aquatic journey began at age 6 when I joined the Peter Kirk Swim Team, where I swam competitively for nine years. At 15, I shifted my focus to the community by completing the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training and combining lifeguarding with my summer camp job at the Plateau Club.
I am passionate about aquatics and working with kids of all ages. Becoming a swim instructor has allowed me to combine these joys. My goal is to introduce young swimmers to the beauty of aquatics through proper swimming techniques and water safety.

With over seven years of competitive experience, I currently swim under Seattle Metropolitan Aquatics Club (previously with IST and OCA). During this past high school swim season, I was ranked first in total points from competition in my school and was selected by 4A coaches for First Team All KingCo. I swam backstroke (my favorite stroke!) in our 200 Medley Relay, which placed 7th at States, and I have been on varsity swimming before. I’m lifeguard certified and love sprinting!
From growing up swimming, I am committed to providing the best aquatic experience and fostering both success and passion for the sport of swimming. In my free time, I enjoy taking on interactive leadership roles, including virtual tutoring and leading clubs. I am excited to be a part of the team guiding young swimmers toward lifelong excellence within and beyond the pool.

Hello! My name is Mckenna, and I’ve practically grown up in the water. From competing on swim teams since the age of 7 to simply enjoying aquatic sports as a hobby, swimming has been a key part of my life.
Drawing upon my joy for swimming, I trained to become an American Red Cross-certified lifeguard. Through lifeguarding here at the Plateau Club, I discovered my passion for teaching swimming and decided to become a swim instructor. Since then, I have had the joy of teaching swimmers from a variety of skill levels, from beginners who need help adjusting to the water to young swimmers who are more comfortable in the water, and looking to improve their basic strokes and breathing techniques.
I’m looking forward to taking a plunge and helping your child reach their swimming goals! See you at the pool!
